Hello God, are you here?

I thought finding a new church would be easier

If you’re new here, hi hello! This is a newsletter where I share everything from food, wellness, motherhood, marriage, and yes, faith. I often use this newsletter as a means to get my thoughts and feelings out, sort of like a really public and vulnerable diary that thousands of people see. So thank you for being here and for being supportive!

This past week we attempted to get drip systems set up in the garden and it just didn’t work. The garden is quite far from the house and up a pretty big hill, so pumping water all the way to it from a house with a well just didn’t work. Daniel even set up a pressurized water pump system and by about 4 rows (out of 15) the water pressure was nearly gone. So we instead opted for one of those orbital top sprayers, which isn’t ideal for fungal growth, but it was quite frankly our only option at the moment so we’re taking it. Honestly there is so much going on in the garden that we’re trying to troubleshoot so I need to make either a YouTube video about that or a substack - we shall see.

I also was having a TON of Braxton Hicks this past week - probably due to dehydration - and after about a week of Daniel telling me that I need an IV (because he can always see my crash coming before I’m willing to admit it), I finally gave in and got the IV. I felt so much better it’s hard to even explain.

Last update, Celia is all but potty trained which is so cool! I want to write a substack on that as well, in case it can help one of you with your little one, but I want to make sure we’re really dialed in before I go giving any advice.

📚 WHAT TO READ: I’m at a total and complete loss on what to read right now. Sorry, I know that’s not helpful. However, I will mention it below in the meat of the newsletter, but I am feeling compelled to read the Bible cover to cover in the NLT translation. Not bouncing around, cover to cover. So that is what I intend on starting this week!

📺 WHAT TO WATCH: Project Hail Mary is officially available for purchase via streaming and I have been so eager to watch it. I read the book years ago and loved it, so I can only imagine that the movie which was a total blockbuster will be amazing as well. Maybe if we can get Celia to go to bed early one night Daniel and I can actually watch it.

🎧 WHAT TO LISTEN TO: In following today’s theme of faith, one thing I’ve been listening to this week is the playlist “Christian Rap that’s actually good” while I workout. I used to love listening to rap while I worked out, but now traditional rap just feels so dark I can’t enjoy it.

At this point we all know how beneficial grounding is (if you don’t, I highly recommend you dive into it… but basically it’s incredible for fighting inflammation, improving sleep, lowering stress, improving cardiovascular health, overall health…. the list goes on and on) So while I love grounding in the grass as much as possible, it’s just not always realistic to be a barefoot princess frolicking around. Daniel and I have been working a lot outside in the garden, on the chicken coop, etc and he needed a new pair of workbooks so he opted for grounding shoes. They’re awesome. I seriously want a pair and will possibly get one for my birthday coming up, but I digress. He bought some from the brand Earthing Harmony (no this is not sponsored in any way), and got the Long Boots for Men. They have a copper piece that hits a specific acupuncture point that best distributes the electrical current or something - I can’t remember. But what an easy way to integrate grounding into your day!

Finding God in a New Place

I want to start by saying that I know God is here. God is with me wherever I am. However, that’s not the point.

If you read my substack on how I became a Christian (I’ll add it below) then you know I’m newish to the faith and maybe am not as rooted in it as a cradle Christian would be.

We loved our Church where we used to live. It was the first church that my husband and I went to upon deciding to pursue a path towards Jesus, it was the church we attended weekly, it was the church we got baptized at. I would work from their coffee shop before having my daughter (back when I had time to do stuff like that), we would walk the ground’s trails. We brought family there. We donated. It was our church home. So when we decided that it was time to move to be closer to our family, we knew it also meant leaving behind this beautiful community that we felt so tethered to. Frankly it was one of the things we were LEAST looking forward to with the move. Not because we were deeply involved, we weren’t. But we loved the church, the pastor and his style of teaching, the children’s program. It was like if you designed a church to be perfect for what we needed, this church was it. And we knew we would be hard pressed to find something that was such an aligned fit for us.
